Netflix wants more of The Gentlemen, officially renewing the action comedy for a second season. The just-announced season is expected to begin shooting next year.
Netflix’s announcement confirmed Theo James will return as Eddie Horniman, Kaya Scodelario is reprising her role as Susie Glass, and Daniel Ings returns as Eddie’s brother Freddy. Additional new and returning cast will be announced at a later date.
The series was created by Guy Ritchie and is inspired by his feature film of the same name. Released in 2019, the crime dramedy starred Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Jeremy Strong, Michelle Dockery, and Colin Farrell. The R-rated action comedy opened to $10 million and grossed $110 million before exiting theaters.
Guy Ritchie and Matthew Read serve as writers and executive producers, with Ritchie returning to direct the eight-episode second season. Additional executive producers include Will Gould, Ivan Atkinson, Moonage Pictures’ Frith Tiplady, and Miramax Television’s Marc Helwig.

“The Gentlemen sees Eddie Horniman (James) unexpectedly inherit his father’s sizeable country estate – only to discover it’s part of a cannabis empire. Moreover, a host of unsavory characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation. Determined to extricate his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to play the gangsters at their own game. However, as he gets sucked into the world of criminality, he begins to find a taste for it, with an unexpected ally found in the sophisticated yet ruthless Susie Glass (Scodelario).”
Netflix hasn’t revealed the season two synopsis, but Scodelario told Tudum where she hopes the story will go. “It’d be fun to see the business spread a bit more,” said Scodelario. “How do they take it to the next level? They’re very adamant about not getting into the chop game, so how do they then continue to build the empire? Where does that take them? How does the new structure of the business work practically?”
