‘Grotesquerie’ Drops a Creepy Teaser Trailer with Niecy Nash-Betts and Travis Kelce

Grotesquerie Star Niecy Nash-Betts

FX’s Grotesquerie teaser trailer opens with a voice-over by Emmy winner Niecy Nash-Betts as Detective Lois Tryon. “I don’t know how it started. It’s like a hole opened up in the world to the center of nothingness.” What follows are disturbing scenes of demons and other bizarre snippets. It’s all very Ryan Murphy American Horror Story-ish.

The cast of Murphy’s new horror series includes two-time Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance as Marshall Tryon and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd. The horror series also stars Tony Award nominee Micaela Diamond as Sister Megan, Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Father Charlie, and Raven Goodwin as Merritt Tryon. Kansas City Chief’s three-time Super Bowl Champion tight end Travis Kelce (aka Taylor Swift’s boyfriend) also stars.

“A series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons,” reads FX’s synopsis. “With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.”

The 10-episode season premieres on FX on September 25, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT. New episodes air on Wednesdays.

Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken created the series and serve as writers and executive producers. Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B Vance, Alexis Martin Woodall, Max Winkler, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun and Scott Robertson also executive produce. Winkler, Murphy, Woodall, and Elegance Bratton direct.
