Netflix confirmed the upcoming sixth season of Virgin River won’t be its last. The streamer officially announced the series has been renewed for a 10-episode season seven. The announcement was made ahead of the show’s December 19, 2024 sixth season premiere.
Alexandra Breckenridge stars as Mel, Martin Henderson plays Jack, Tim Matheson is Doc, Annette O’Toole is Hope, and Colin Lawrence plays Preacher. The season six cast also includes Benjamin Hollingsworth as Brady, Zibby Allen as Brie, Sarah Dugdale as Lizzie, Marco Grazzini as Mike, Kai Bradbury as Denny, Kandyse McClure as Kaia, and Mark Ghanime as Cameron.
“Virgin River is a romance story centered around nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe’s (Breckenridge) move to the remote California town of Virgin River,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Yearning for a fresh start, Monroe discovered that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she had to learn to heal herself before she could truly make Virgin River her home.”
Per Netflix, the upcoming sixth season is set “against the backdrop of Mel and Jack’s romantic spring wedding season. This sixth installment promises fresh twists and turns, escalating love triangles, delightful wedding drama, as well as uncovered secrets from Mel’s father’s past which will transport us to the magic and mystique of Virgin River in the 1970s.”
Based on Robyn Carr’s bestselling book series, Virgin River season five made it onto Netflix’s top 10 list in 77 countries. Patrick Sean Smith (Greek, Chasing Life) guides the series as showrunner and serves as an executive producer along with Sue Tenney, Amy Palmer Robertson, Roma Roth, Christopher E. Perry, Erin Cardillo, Richard Keith, and Jennifer Monroe. Author Carr is also involved as an executive producer.
Season six directors include Martin Wood, Rama Rau, Felipe Rodriguez, series star Martin Henderson, and Monika Mitchell. Patrick Sean Smith, Jackson Sinder, Erin Cardillo, Richard Keith, Ildiko Susany, Thomas Ian Griffith, Mary Page Keller, Tesia Walker, and Becky Hartman Edwards are the writers.
