Jodie Turner-Smith has joined the cast of Paramount+ with Showtime’s The Agency, a spy thriller starring two-time Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender. Turner-Smith’s the latest addition to a cast that includes Oscar nominee Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere as series regulars.

“Jodie Turner-Smith is a force who captivates audiences with her raw emotional power,” stated Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks. “We are thrilled she is joining this extraordinary cast for The Agency alongside Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere.”

The Agency is based on the French series Le Bureau des Légendes created by Eric Rochant. Tony Award winner Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth are writing the 10-episode season and serving as executive producers. Two-time BAFTA winner Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice) is directing the first two episodes and also executive produces.

Additional executive producers include Michael Fassbender, TOP-The Originals Productions’ Alex Berger, and Smokehouse Pictures’ George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios’ Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz executive produce, as well as David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari of 101 Studios. Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton executive producer for Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America.

“The all-new political thriller follows Martian (Fassbender), a covert CIA agent, ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity, and his mission are pitted against his heart, hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage,” reads Paramount+ with Showtime’s synopsis.

Turner-Smith is playing Sami Zahir, a Professor of Social Anthropology who has a history with Martian. Gere stars as Bosko, the London Station Chief with a storied past after serving as an 8-year undercover agent. Wright plays Henry, the Director of Operations and mentor to Martian.

The espionage political thriller is currently in production in London.

Jodie Turner-Smith’s credits include Queen & Slim, The Acolyte, Sex Education, Murder Mystery 2, and White Noise. Turner-Smith recently finished work on TRON: Ares, starring Jared Leto and Evan Peters, and Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn.
