Warner Bros. Pictures’ first teaser trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom features Aquaman riding a massive seahorse and Black Manta swearing he’ll defeat the King of Atlantis. The teaser, which arrived along with photos, also confirmed the full trailer will premiere in four days.
Jason Momoa returns as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, Patrick Wilson is Orm, Nicole Kidman is Atlanna, Amber Heard is Mera. Dolph Lundgren returns as King Nereus and Randall Park reprises his role as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Warner Bros. Pictures released this synopsis of the new Aquaman film:
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force.
To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Aquaman director James Wan directs this sequel from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (story by Wan, Momoa, Johnson-McGoldrick, and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett). Wan, Peter Safran, and Rob Cowan served as producers, with Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada executive producing.
Wan’s behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Don Burgess, production designer Bill Brzeski, editor Kirk Morri, composer Rupert Gregson-Williams, music supervisor Michelle Silverman, visual effects supervisor Nick Davis, and costume designer Richard Sale.
Aquaman opened in theaters on December 21, 2018 and grossed more than $1.1 billion during its worldwide theatrical run. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will open in theaters on December 20, 2023.
