14 performers have made the cut and will be voted on as possible Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees in 2025. Among this year’s batch of artists are first-time nominees: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast, and Phish.
Filling out this year’s roster are Mariah Carey, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Oasis, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. Artists are eligible for consideration 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording.
“These remarkable Nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude, impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever-evolving sounds and continued growth of rock & roll,” stated John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
Last year’s crop of inductees included Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest. A voting panel consisting of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals will vote on this year’s nominees. Artists are selected based on their “impact on music culture, influence on other musicians that have followed, as well as the scope and longevity of their career and body of work.”
2025 inductees will be announced in April. A special induction ceremony will be held this fall in Los Angeles.
