English Teacher, created by and starring Brian Jordan Alvarez, has been renewed for season two. Season one premiered in September 2024, and the 10-episode second season is expected to premiere later this year.

English Teacher was one of the most critically acclaimed new shows of 2024 and we are grateful to the producers, writers, cast, directors and crew for the show’s creative excellence,” stated said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment. “We look forward to the new season.”

Alvarez stars as Evan Marquez, “a high school teacher in Austin, Texas who often finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school,” says FX’s synopsis. “Over the first season, Evan navigates his relationships, his students and his fellow faculty and tries to answer the question: can you really be your full self at your job?”

Season one also starred Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, Sean Patton, and Carmen Christopher. Alvarez, Paul Simms, Jonathan Krisel, Dave King, Kathryn Dean, Jake Bender, and Zach Dunn serve as executive producers.

The comedy currently sits at 98% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season earned three Critics Choice Awards nominations, four Spirit Awards nominations, and two Writers Guild Award nominations.
