Sinners dominated the 2026 Oscar nominations, scoring a record-breaking 16 nominations. The record of 14 nominations had been held by All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) and La La Land (2016).
One Battle After Another followed with 13 nominations. Three films – Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, and Sentimental Value – earned nine nominations, while Hamnet picked up eight.
According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, 11 performers are first-time Oscar nominees, and Timothée Chalamet is the only actor to earn back-to-back nominations. The nomination of four non-English language performances set a new record, with Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Wagner Moura, Renate Reinsve, and Stellan Skarsgård being recognized with nominations.
Hamnet‘s Chloé Zhao is only the second female director in Oscar history to receive multiple nominations. (Jane Campion is the other.) The 2026 nominees include the largest number of women in Oscar history, with 74 female nominees, surpassing the 71 female nominees from 2023.
Winners will be announced live on ABC during the 2026 Oscars set for March 15th at 4pm PT/7pm ET. Conan O’Brien returns as host.
