Christopher Nolan’s Inception, Pixar’s The Incredibles, and the film that told us it only takes 20 minutes to get anywhere in Los Angeles have been added by the Library of Congress to the National Film Registry. 25 films have made the cut, including six silent films and four documentaries.
“When we preserve films, we preserve American culture for generations to come. These selections for the National Film Registry show us that films are instrumental in capturing important parts of our nation’s story,” stated Acting Librarian of Congress Robert R. Newlen. “We are proud to continue this important work, adding a broad range of 25 films to the National Film Registry as a collective effort in the film community to protect our cinematic heritage.”
According to the Library of Congress, films are selected “due to their cultural, historic, or aesthetic importance to preserve the nation’s film heritage.”
Turner Classic Movies will screen a selection of the new inductees beginning at 8pm ET on Thursday, March 19, 2026. The addition of the following 25 films brings the total recognized by the National Film Registry to 925.
