‘Hunted by My Husband’ Documentary Focuses on the DC Sniper

Hunted by My Husband: The Untold Story of the DC Sniper

Investigation Discovery has set an October 28, 2025 at 9pm ET/PT premiere date for Hunted by My Husband: The Untold Story of the DC Sniper, a two-hour documentary on the killing spree that shook Maryland, DC, and Virginia. The documentary explores the DC Sniper case with insight from the convicted killer’s ex-wife, Mildred Muhammad.

ID offered this description of the true-crime documentary:

Hunted by My Husband reveals the story of the DC Sniper and places Mildred Muhammad—the ex-wife of convicted DC Sniper John Muhammad—at the center of the narrative. Her testimony reveals the chilling reality that the violence that gripped the D.C. area in 2002 was not a series of random killings but part of a calculated plan rooted in manipulation, control, and domestic abuse driven by a single, dark obsession: John’s relentless desire to murder his ex-wife so he could have custody of their three children. The documentary reveals the harrowing torment Mildred endured and the lengths to which her abuser would go to kill her, even at the cost of innocent lives.

In the documentary, Mildred bravely shares her story of survival and the years of emotional, financial, and psychological abuse that preceded his murderous rampage. Through exclusive interviews, never-before-seen home video of the Muhammad family, and commentary from domestic violence experts and law enforcement officers who worked tirelessly to track and identify the snipers, the documentary explores how the justice system, media, and public perception missed critical warning signs of abuse and coercive control and challenges our society as a whole to rethink what we know of domestic violence.”

Hunted by My Husband: The Untold Story of the DC Sniper is part of ID’s fourth annual No Excuse for Abuse campaign in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. ID describes the campaign as part of their “unwavering commitment to shedding light on the multifaceted and complex dynamics of intimate partner violence with resources and programming initiatives.”

“By shining a light on the hidden realities of domestic violence in all its forms, our annual No Excuse for Abuse campaign is designed to empower survivors, educate viewers, and help break the silence that allows abuse to persist,” stated Jason Sarlanis, President of ID. “Through our on-air programming and network initiatives, ID fosters awareness, empathy, and action—and a reminder to survivors and their loved ones that they are not alone and help is available.”
