Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen is joining her husband, Ted Danson, on season two of Netflix’s A Man on the Inside. Season one held a spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list for five weeks and earned a second season order a month after its November 2024 premiere.
According to the streamer, Steenburgen will play Mona Margadoff, “a former musician who factors heavily in the case Charles is trying to solve.” Ted Danson reprises his role as Charles. Netflix hasn’t announced the full cast of the upcoming season or a target premiere date.
The season one cast included Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, Margaret Avery, John Getz, and Susan Ruttan. Lori Tan Chinn, Clyde Kusatsu, Marc Evan Jackson, Jama Williamson, Wyatt Yang, Deuce Basco, Lincoln Lambert, and Kerry O’Malley also starred.
“Charles (Danson), a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a PI and becomes a mole in a secret investigation,” reads Netflix’s season one synopsis.
Mike Schur created the series, based on the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent. Schur executive produces along with Morgan Sackett, David Miner, Maite Alberdi, Marcela Santibañez, Julie Goldman, and Christopher Clements.
Mary Steenburgen won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1981 for Melvin and Howard. Steenburgen’s recent credits include Book Club: The Next Chapter, Nightmare Alley, Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, and Bless the Harts.
