CBS isn’t totally done with Blue Bloods just yet. The series might have ended on December 13, 2024 with season 14, episode 18, but it will live on with a spinoff starring Donnie Wahlberg. Wahlberg is confirmed to reprise his role as Danny Reagan in a series that will move the action from New York to Boston.

Tentatively titled Boston Blue, the spinoff is expected to join the network’s primetime lineup for the 2025-2026 season.

“In Boston Blue, a universe expansion of the long-running top drama Blue Bloods, Wahlberg will reprise his role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD,” reads CBS’s synopsis. “Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.”

The spinoff has Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis on board as showrunners and executive producers. Additional executive producers include Donnie Wahlberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, and KristieAnne Reed. Sonnier and Margolis began their television careers working on The Blacklist. They followed that up by developing and serving as showrunners on L.A.’s Finest starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. Currently, they’re involved as executive producers on Alert: Missing Persons Unit season three.
