Japanese rock band Necry Talkie’s “bloom” sets the tone for the opening credits of Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Brought to life by Science SARU’s animation, the new anime series brings back together the Scott Pilgrim vs the World cast to provide the voices of Ramona Flowers and her evil exes.
Michael Cera voices Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Ramona Flowers, Satya Bhabha is Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin is Wallace Wells, Chris Evans is Lucas Lee, and Anna Kendrick is Stacey Pilgrim. Brie Larson returns as Envy Adams, Alison Pill is Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza is Julie Powers, Brandon Routh is Todd Ingram, and Jason Schwartzman is Gideon Graves.
Johnny Simmons voices Young Neil, Mark Webber is Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman is Roxie Richter, and Ellen Wong voices Knives Chau. Julian Cihi is voicing Katayanagi Twins – Kyle and Ken.
“Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, and discovers he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. But this time, things get even more complicated,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off revisits and reimagines the beloved cult classic, taking Ramona Flowers, her evil exes, Scott, and his friends off on a mysterious new action-packed journey to find love.”
The eight-episode season premieres on November 17, 2023.
Executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski created the series, with Science SARU’s Abel Gongora directing.
