Netflix’s MerPeople documentary series provides an in-depth look at the underwater performer industry, which generates half a billion dollars annually. The official trailer showcases the world of underwater pageants, conventions, competitions, auditions, and shows.
Oscar winner Cynthia Wade (Best Documentary, Short Subjects – Freeheld) directs and executive produces along with Michael Williams, Joel Chiodi, David Collins, Rob Eric, Andréanna Seymore, and Roland Ballester.
In addition to dropping the official trailer, Netflix unveiled a new poster and photos from the four-episode docuseries. MerPeople is set to premiere on the streaming service on May 23, 2023.
