Netflix’s official trailer for The Body makes you wish the release date had been moved up for Halloween bingeing. Seems like the coming-of-age drama would be perfect for those staying at home on the spookiest night of the year. Instead, the streamer set a November 11, 2026 premiere date for the eight-episode season.

The Body stars Kristina Bogic as Anya Butler, Sara Boustany as Elise Zakaria, Geena Meszaros as Lisbeth Anderson, Nnamdi Asomugha as Father Franklin, Louisa Krause as Catherine Anderson, Shirley Chen as Maddie Delaney, Jackson Kelly as Leo Anderson, and Sofia Wylie as Grace Franklin. The cast also includes Gabby Windey as Coach Miller, Kyra Pierce as Bailey Bradley, Phallon Pierce as Brit Bradley, Marcel Ruiz as Tyler Santos, Orlando Norman as Steven Maxwell, and Ashley Madekwe as Theresa Franklin.

Motell Foster as Michael Franklin, Cale Ambrozic as Benji, Anna Tierney as Melanie, Chloe Longname as Eden, Sarah Abbott as Olivia, Emily Roman as Claire, Michela Luci as Amy, Bella Neuspiel as Katie, Julia Lowe as Blair, and Christine Solomon as Salma round out the ensemble.

“After a dance-team initiation gone wrong, a group of badly behaved Catholic schoolgirls begin having prophetic visions that set off mass hysteria in their town,” reads Netflix’s synopsis.

Quinn Shephard (Under the Bridge) created the series and serves as a director and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Blair Breard, North Road’s Peter Chernin, Amy Israel, and Josh Stern, and Felix Culpa’s Riley Keough and Sacha Ben Harroche. Gina Gammell directs and also executive produces.

“I literally made this for my teen self,” said Shephard, speaking with Netflix’s Tudum. “Tonally, I would describe the show as gritty camp. It’s a raunchy teen psychodrama with a dash of Catholic horror.”

Shephard credits Carrie, Jennifer’s Body, Heavenly Creatures, Mean Girls, and The Crucible as inspiring her to write The Body. “This show can be really funny and it can still be really sad at times or really spooky,” said Shephard. “It is aesthetically such an homage to every single film that influenced me as a filmmaker and made me want to be an artist.”
