The one-minute teaser for HBO Max’s The Pitt season two shows the emergency room staff preparing for a tier one trauma as a new day and new shift begins. The critically acclaimed, 13-time Emmy-nominated series premiered in January 2025, and season two is expected to debut in January 2026.
Noah Wyle returns to lead the cast as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. Patrick Ball stars as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa is Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh is Dr. Mohan, and Fiona Dourif reprises her role as Dr. McKay. Filling out the ensemble are Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi.
“The Pitt is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh,” reads HBO Max’s synopsis.
Discussing his return to medical dramas after 11 seasons of ER, Wyle told NPR that the show’s secret weapon is Dr. Joe Sachs, a board-certified emergency room physician who was a writer and technical advisor on the long-running series. “He is meticulous, his attention to detail, and he basically does those trauma scenes,” said Wyle. “He will sort of present what the appropriate medicine and procedures are, what each person in the room’s role is, given their hierarchy in the hospital, and even weighing in a little bit on emotionally how they may be feeling given the circumstances and stakes of the case.”
R. Scott Gemmill created the series and executive produces along with Noah Wyle, John Wells, Michael Hissrich, Erin Jontow, and Simran Baidwan. The series is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
