The official trailer for FX’s What We Do in the Shadows season five finds Guillermo wondering why 16 days after being bit, he’s still not able to change into a bat. The trailer also teases Colin’s run for Comptroller so he can suck the energy out of the town, and The Guide announces she’s joining the group on their next adventures.
Season five stars Kayvan Novak as Nandor, Matt Berry as Laszlo, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, and Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson. Kristen Schaal returns as The Guide and Harvey Guillén stars as Guillermo.
What We Do in the Shadows premieres on July 13, 2023 with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes air on Thursdays at 10p ET/PT.
The series is based on the feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, with Clement, Waititi, Paul Simms, Sam Johnson, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush executive producing.
The Season 5 Plot:
What We Do in the Shadows documents the nightly exploits of vampire roommates Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin Robinson as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo, and their vampire bureaucrat acquaintance, The Guide.
In season five, Nandor feels his familiar (and sometimes friend) Guillermo slipping away as he seems to be spending much more time with Laszlo, whose skills as a gentleman scientist are put to the test as he tries to solve the mystery of the strange and very secret changes Guillermo is going through.
Nadja, suffering the effects of a previously-undiagnosed supernatural hex, reconnects with her family — or at least, a family — from the Old Country, Colin pursues the path of so many energy vampires before him by running for political office and The Guide tries to figure out where she fits in as the relative newcomer to this tightly-knit group who’ve known each other for centuries.
