The full trailer for Netflix’s dark comedy Beef shows how a simple incident can escalate into a life-altering feud. It also shows why you should just shake off encounters with rude drivers, no matter how much they piss you off.
The 10-episode comedy stars Steven Yeun (Nope) and Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe) as the strangers involved in a road rage incident. The cast also includes Joseph Lee as George, Young Mazino as Paul, David Choe as Isaac, and Patti Yasutake as Fumi. Maria Bello, Ashley Park, Justin H. Min, Mia Serafino, and Remy Holt guest star in recurring roles.
The series was created by Lee Sung Jin (Dave, Silicon Valley) who joked with Netflix’s Tudum that he’s “grateful to the guy who yelled at me in traffic three years ago. I did not let it go, and now we have a show.”
Lee Sung Jin is the showrunner and serves as an executive producer along with series stars Steven Yeun (through his company Universal Remote) and Ali Wong. Jake Schreier directed six episodes and is involved as an executive producer. Beef is produced by A24, the studio behind Best Picture Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All at Once and Brendan’s Fraser’s Best Actor win in The Whale.
Beef premieres on Netflix on April 6, 2023.
The Plot: Beef follows the aftermath of a road rage incident between two strangers. Danny Cho (Steven Yeun), a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, goes head-to-head with Amy Lau (Ali Wong), a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life. The increasing stakes of their feud unravel their lives and relationships in this darkly comedic and deeply moving series.
