Mike believes he has a plan that will set the wheels in motion to get the gang leaders released as Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown season two episode six gets underway. Mike (Jeremy Renner) meets with Wendy (Sandrine Holt) from the Warwick Group and reveals he knows the inmates are being used as slave labor and that even the guard dogs are eating better than the prisoners. Wendy doesn’t care because it’s working and that’s all that matters.

If he doesn’t like it, then he can just move aside.

Mike proposes a deal: if Wendy helps him get Bunny released, then he’ll be in her debt. She just needs to make the DA sign the release. He’s forced to admit he can’t seem to get the job done himself. She agrees.

A conversation around a table in Anchor Bay’s cafeteria reveals that not everyone knew the details of the plan to murder the Mexican gang leader, Luis. As Big Hush (Jock McKissic), Raphael (D Smoke), Crips leader Dedrick (Marcus Brandon), and another Crip are playing cards, an Aryan Brotherhood gang member (with help from a guard) stabs the Crip, killing him.

Big Hush, Dedrick, and Raphael are handcuffed to the table and can’t leave, and the guards stand down and watch as the AB member slashes out at Big Hush and Raf before Big Hush manages to grab him. It’s not until Raf and Big Hush have the upper hand that the guards break up the fight.

Captain Kareem Moore (Michael Beach) calls Mike with news that Bunny will be out of solitary by the end of the day. Kareem thinks Bunny put the hit on Luis but Mike knows it was AB making a play. Kareem confirms the Anchor Bay guards are mostly AB members or sympathizers.

Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley) calls for a meeting at Don’s Diner with Mike, Ian, and Kyle. He received a “heart attack” letter and was told by the DA to lawyer up. Mike knows the DA’s not acting on inmate testimony which means someone rolled on Robert. Ian (Hugh Dillon), Kyle (Taylor Handley), and Robert believe SWAT stopped the riot from the inside and are pissed they’re being blamed for how they handled the situation.

Mike’s convinced a SWAT member is snitching on the group and has cut a deal with the DA. Robert promises to try and figure out who’s talking, and Mike will then figure out the next step. Ian sets up a meeting with Kyle for 9pm to go over their stories.

After the meeting, Kyle lugs a duffle bag over to Mike’s car. It turns out he gave the officer on duty tickets to a concert in exchange for leaving the evidence room open. Kyle stole the bonds – not Milo!

Later that night, Mike warns Kyle not to pull a stunt like stealing the bonds again. Kyle insists he wiped the drives and no one saw him, but Mike thinks it looks suspicious. Kyle doesn’t care as long as they’re in the clear.

“No more Rambo sh*t,” says Mike, which obviously means there’s about to be more Rambo sh*t.

Kareem gave Mike the name of the CO at Anchor, and Mike pulls up in front of Davidson’s house. Kyle has no idea what’s going on, and Mike tells him to grab a gun and follow him in if he’s not back in five minutes.

Davidson (Matt Gerald) recognizes Mike’s name and lets him in. Mike asks him to back off Bunny but Davidson resists. Mike pushes back and says he’s not really asking. Davidson gets in his face and Mike says it doesn’t matter what Davidson thinks; this will happen even without his cooperation.

Davidson orders Mike out of his house and gives him a shove just as Kyle busts in, gun drawn. Kyle pistol-whips him twice across the face while warning him never to touch his brother again or he’ll kill him. Mike says all Davidson needs to do is back off on Bunny, but Kyle’s not ready to let it go. He places his gun to Davidson’s head and, again, warns him not to f*ck around.

As Mike leaves, Davidson says, “I thought you were one of us, Mike.” Mike quickly corrects him.

Kyle hits him once more before following Mike out.

Kyle’s drunk when he finally returns home and completely forgot that he was supposed to meet Ian. Mariam’s still up keeping Ian company and before heading off to bed she makes sure her son’s okay. (He’s not as evidenced by the three sheds he’s putting together in her backyard for no reason.)

Over at Anchor Bay, Carney (Lane Garrison) accompanies Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) out of solitary, and Bunny’s furious he was left in the kill box for so long. He warns Carney that he may not be in control but he’s about to take charge of this situation.

Carney leads him to the kennel area where Mike’s waiting with news he’s making a move today. Mike confirms the streets have been quiet the past week or so, but Bunny doesn’t care. Mike reminds Bunny the Mexican leader was set on fire and Bunny hasn’t been keeping it quiet inside.

Bunny threatens to raise his voice inside and Mike assures him he’ll be out “in minutes.” However, they’ve reached a point where Bunny no longer believes Mike’s promises. (Really surprised it took him this long.) Bunny confirms he moved the target off Mike’s back and Mike asks who he moved it to. Bunny explains that’s a need-to-know thing, and Mike doesn’t need to know.

Bunny turns his back on Mike and walks away.

Mike goes from one disastrous meeting straight to another. He shows up unexpectedly at a restaurant where DA Lockett (Lawrence Adimora) and Asst DA Evelyn Foley (Necar Zadegan) are dining, and this impromptu meeting doesn’t start off well. The DA doesn’t care that he made a deal with Mike and the gang leaders. Lockett also isn’t worried about Mike’s threats to work with the Warwick Group against his reelection.

Lockett believes the four gang leaders deserve to be in jail, so he doesn’t care about the fact he’s breaking their deal. Mike finally plays his ace, revealing that Milo’s most likely alive and on the loose in Kingstown. Mike offers to give the DA what he needs to bait the hook and reel in the biggest fish in their little pond.

Lockett says he didn’t know that Milo’s out and besides that, that’s on the DoC – not him. Mike correctly points out the voters don’t know the difference, and his Asst DA was aware Milo likely escaped. If she knew, no one will believe that he didn’t.

That silences Lockett and Mike leaves the meeting, certain he’ll finally get the leaders released.

Carney delivers the news to Kareem that the prisoner from Tent City died. Carney’s created a false incident report that places the blame for the deceased prisoner’s trauma on other inmates. He leaves the report with Kareem who it appears hasn’t decided what to do next.

Bunny’s working in Anchor Bay’s license plate factory when Gunner (Dylan Kenin) approaches. Bunny picks up something to use as a weapon but Gunner insists he comes in peace. The guy who attacked Big Hush’s table was a lone wolf and Gunner’s given the green light to take him out…which happens within seconds.

A short while later Bunny calls Mike and tells him the path has been cleared. Mike needs to do his “mayor thing” right now and get him out. Mike’s confused about a path opening up and Bunny says he did what was necessary.

DA Lockett is walking to his car in an underground garage when he’s shot multiple times and killed.

Bunny orders Mike to get the Asst DA to sign his release papers now.
